Northeast States for Coordinated Air Use Management (NESCAUM) is an interstate association of air quality control divisions in the Northeast states. The eight member states are comprised of the six New England states, as well as New York and New Jersey. NESCAUM's purpose is to exchange technical information and to promote cooperation and coordination of technical policy issues regarding air quality control among the member states. To accomplish this, NESCAUM sponsors air quality training programs, participates in national debates, assists in exchange of information, and promotes research initiatives (www.nescaum.org). NESCAUM serves as the project manager for the Air CURRENTS project.

U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), Region 2, which is designated to protect the environment in New York, New Jersey and Puerto Rico, is funding this project through the Environmental Monitoring for Public Access and Community Tracking (EMPACT) program. EMPACT aims to work with communities to make timely, accurate and understandable environmental information available to millions of people in the largest metropolitan areas across the country so that communities and individuals can make informed day to day decisions about their lives. The U.S. EPA, Region 2, EMPACT program funds and oversees the Air CURRENTS project.
